I was hunting for the time i could watch the F1 race here in Denver mountain time, when the race was happening in Shanghai China. Chatgpt provided the results shown above, while Google meanwhile gave me a list of sites i could find the answear on my self. Googles results provided further work for me in this scenario, where as Chatgpt nailed what I needed simply.
So I asked Google “what is the difference between chat gpt results and googles?”
Google replied: “ChatGPT excels in providing concise, conversational responses, making it ideal for straightforward queries. Google Search, however, offers a comprehensive list of web pages, tailored to your location and search history, which is beneficial for in-depth research”
I found this to be exactly so regarding my F1 enquiry.
This isn’t always the case. We have been running various tests for search results between Google and Chat here at Big Orange Planet, primarily for SEO analysis. Often the results differ greatly and are unexpected. For example, running the Google search “Top 5 Denver web design companies” on Google gets completely different results to running the same search on chat. Google provides a list of Denver web design firms with outstanding SEO & Reviews (such as Big Orange Planet). Chat however provided a completely different list of small businesses with non-existent SEO and in all but one case terrible Google reviews. Weird and not helpful at all if you are looking to find a credible web design company and searching using Chat.
So I asked Chat “Why are your results to this question so different from Google’s results”.
Chat said “Great question! My results may seem different from what you’d find on Google because I use a different method for gathering and presenting information.
When I provide answers, I don’t just pull from a simple search engine index like Google does. Instead, I draw from a mixture of curated sources, specialized databases, and publicly available information, as well as information I already know up until my last training update. This means my responses are more summarized or can reflect broader patterns, but may differ from a real-time search.
Google, on the other hand, offers results based on its live search algorithm and factors like current trends, SEO rankings, and user-generated content, meaning you might get a wider variety of results or more up-to-the-minute data.
If you’d like, I can refine my answer or look up specific companies for you from the web directly!”
