While we can and have worked with big box solutions, we recommend, when applicable, to utilize our own custom framework, called Stempora, in use worldwide since 2005. The system’s modular structure encourages quick and efficient adaptation to differing requirements. Some folks only sell one product, other may have an inventory of thousands.
Shipping costs and methodologies clearly become a huge factor to consider. We support all the major delivery networks- fedex, UPS, USPS. Point of product origin and final delivery location play a large part in deciding choice of provider, having multiple options is the way to go.
We support multiple payment gateways
Similarly, we support multiple payment gateways- stripe, braintree, paypal and more. Depending on how pre-existing merchant accounts are set up, said setup may dictate the choice. In cases where the merchant gateway is a blank canvas in effect we lean towards Stripe from positive past experience.
There are many moving parts that add up to a cohesive, working user purchase experience. Obviously there are needs for user accounts, email notifiers, google or facebook based logins, review engines, once again the list goes on. And lets not forget the taxes! States have divergent rates as well.
